The yoga of growth
I watch my body change over time.

Spirituality + Intentional living + Conscious Motherhood

I watch my body change over time.

I have really been indulging in my blog for the last few weeks, but today I have a short and sweet post for you.
Every day I try to nourish myself so that I may grow into a happier person and live a beautiful and blessed life. It is a daily practice because a life well lived, a charmed life, is created one day at a time.
Writing this post has reminded me how simple it is to nourish and nurture yourself every day.
I ask myself these questions:

Has the internet and social media changed the human experience? Of course it has, but how exactly?
I don’t even really need to tell you about the benefits of social media, do I? We all know it, we all experience them on a day by day basis, which is part of the reason why it is so addictive.
I love that I can stay in touch with far away friends. I love that the internet makes my world so small.

To me, going inwards means putting my attention into my internal environment – not only what is happening around me, but what is happening within me.
What is this buzzing of life energy incased within this body of mine? Who or what is “Malavika” and why is she delighted by some things and dismayed by others?
Right now, this is our life – something happens in the outside world, and then something happens inside us. For example – Today it begins to rain outside. Perhaps on this particular day, this is bad news to us for many reasons. And so it rains inside us.

What exactly is spirituality? I define spirituality as your relationship with your internal self, that is – your relationship with everything that goes on within you.
Sometimes we can make the mistake of spending 20 minutes in meditation and calling it “spiritual”, and then go about the rest of the day where nothing is spiritual.
We feel that from 9-5 we are trapped in the unspiritual reality of real life and responsibilities. And then when we get home, we may sculpt out 30 minutes of our evening for some attempt at “mindfulness.”
But spirituality is not something you do when you are home from work and then feel like a terror or act like a terror for the rest of your day.
The last month or so has been a flurry of traveling, trying to overcome jetlag and the flu, and I have been sleeping much more than I usually do. We got back to Ontario late last night, after a magical long weekend in BC with my family, and I am so glad both my husbands and my ailments have healed and I can go back to embracing LIFE and not spending the majority of the day in bed.
I have some thoughts on sleeping to share with you.

My adorable brother.

I try to see life is just a sequence of a different situations and environments that we have to work our way through, from the day we are born to the day we die. Life never stagnates, it is constantly changing from one thing to another.
Sometimes we know how to handle a situation we are presented with, but most of the time, we don’t, and there is a steep learning curve. And when we are given a situation that we don’t know how to handle, we believe we are going through a a rough patch, a crisis in our life. But isn’t that what living is; changing, learning, growth?
When we were a baby, we didn’t know how to walk, but we learned. We crawled. We held onto the couch for dear life. We took our first stumbling steps. We defied gravity. We fell. Oh boy, we fell a lot. We fell into our parents arms, but we also fell on carpet, and concrete. We grazed our knees and bumped our head. We cried when it hurt, and laughed when it stopped, when we were reminded how wonderful and surprising life is.

It has been a while since I have written something. I think that this is because all my posts are rooted in my own personal revelations and realizations. I share things my life is showing me and lessons I am learning.
I guess…sometimes it takes me a while to learn something. 😎
But I have come to understand something about life and I am glad to be sharing it with you.

Today I wanted to share something that I don’t often (if ever?!) write about on my blog – which is about some beauty products that I like!
