About Malavika

You are very welcome to my small corner of the internet. My name is Malavika. I am a 26 year old girl & recently qualified doctor. I have spent the last 6 years of my life studying medicine in Ireland, the emerald isle, and have now moved back to Canada to do doctor things, wife things and life things. Not in that order.

The word “spiritual” is such a buzzword these days, and I know that it can mean different things to different people. This is what it means to me:

I define spirituality as your relationship with your internal life, that is, your relationship with everything that is going on within you.

Sound Mountain

Firstly, there is nothing in your life that is not spiritual. Anything can become a spiritual process when you do it with involvement. What I want for myself is to make more activities in my day and in my life a spiritual process, until that spiritual process becomes me.

I believe that when you do certain things, and live in a certain way, you can create the right conditions and the right environment for the relationship with your inner self to happen.

I have come to understand that spirituality is not an activity that you do a few times a week. It is not a product that I can sell you. What spirituality is to me is a certain atmosphere in life.

Yoga, meditation and Kriya are just some of the tools that I have found help create this atmosphere for me.

So my wish in life is to bloom in every way possible. I want to live from the inside out. I want to live knowing that what happens inside me is more important than what happens outside of me. I want to live well and happily. And since I do not live in an ashram, I am slowly learning how to make my “ordinary” life with all the responsibilities it brings, into something spiritual. If this is something that you connect with, then this you might find something valuable in reading this blog!

What this blog is:

“My life is ordinary in many ways, and extraordinary in some others. But I believe that life may be lived in many ways, and each life is important. Every story is worth telling, and every life , no matter how big or small it may be, deserves to be lived with conviction and purpose.”

That was a passage from my dairy.

So I write about the many small stories that weave together to make the fabric of my life.

Pure Joy

Spiritual practice has created a happiness within me that I have never had access to before. It made me realize that it is such a shame that I have lived in such a way where I felt that I could only have that intense happiness only when something great was about to happen, or had just happened, and that ecstasy is fleeting, and that as you grow up, it becomes rarer and rarer. I am coming to learn that this is not true..

And that there are other ways to live.

I have come to understand that there is a type of deep happiness that is available to us to experience all the time.

So I write about joy and happiness and how to find ecstacy in every day life.

Wild Life

The only way to know life is to be completely involved in it. This means living wildly. When I say wild, I don’t mean living recklessly. I mean living in an uninhibited way, going on adventures, embracing and living in nature and exploring earth.

So I write about my adventures and secrets of the earth.

I believe in transformation. I believe in re-assessing all the different aspects of my life and making changes. I believe in learning from mistakes and living with courage.

So I write about my transformations, the ache and the explosion of it.

Magic of the Mundane

I celebrate the magic of the mundane. I believe deeply in the moments between the moments. I find beauty in the small acts that make up our days, because that is where life lives. I adore peaceful mornings, holding hands with my husband, picking flowers for my home, drinking hot water from my favourite mug, organizing my things, handwriting, minimalistic living, baking, reading novels, writing poetry, laughter, beautiful dresses, and conversations with friends.

So I share the ordinary moments of my life through the written word and images.

Poetry & Prose

I love to write. I have kept diaries, written (unfinished) stories and poetry since I was a little girl. Words are delicious and I love piecing together beautiful sentences. Life is poetry, the way each moment just melts into the next. Some of the most beautiful and profound things that have happened to me in my life are expressed best as poetry.

So I write for love. I write for what is within me.

So I share with you my journey, my adventures, my transformations, and my realizations in this golden life.

It is my hope that this blog serves as a reminder of your magnificent inner journey. Thank you for walking with me.

Now that is more than enough about me, I want to know you. Who are you? What do you do? What is your life? Who are you becoming? Share yourself with us in the comments, or you can write to me or e-mail me.

All my love to all of you,

I was miserable 8 years ago, but now that I’m 21, I made an effort to try to change by i dunno yet, had a lot of plans, currently the only thing good and positive i’ve been doing is reposting inspirational pictures of rooms in my blog. I also tried Ananda Marga Yoga last year, attended 3 sessions, and I felt good everytime we finish although I’ve stopped because i don’t have extra money anymore (because i spend them instead on more food 😛 ). I recently graduated and will attend medical school this coming June. Anyway I hope I could be better too. 🙂

  9. hey! was going thru wordpress n read Malavika’s blog… did a double take…. see I am Malvika too…without the ‘a’ 🙂 In 2006 when you were 16 I was 26 and at a weird time in my life too. I still feel underwater most of the time but am deterred by turning to anything spiritual by just the thought that maybe I am too shallow and materialistic for all that. Your words have made me rethink. thank you and good luck with medicine…

  12. What beautiful thoughtful words I felt myself relax just reading your blog,I think you will make one very special doctor good luck and bless you.

  13. Malavika, I have to say I see a lot of who I am in you and your blog- and it’s more than just your excellent taste in themes ;). Thanks for reiterating and reminding me of the things I really needed to hear in your blog on morning routines. I will be a devoted follower! Keep up the great work and best of luck in Ireland! I’m sure you will be an amazing doctor! 🙂 -Tara (haute-law.com)

  14. What a beautiful photograph. Now if only we could remove the girl from it 😉 Joking aside, I find myself like you were at 16. I’ve dabbled in yoga, Buddhism, and Deepok Chopra etc., but nothing sticks. Is there any hope for a cynical pessimist?

    1. Haha, if you continue following my blog, I will be posting a blogpost on my photographs from Cape Town, and I promise there will be a lot of similar photographs without “the girl” 😉

      Thanks for commenting!

    1. I am using the theme: CHUNK on my blog. I like it a lot!
I do use categories on my blog, but they are placed at the bottom of my page, because my theme does not allow otherwise.

  15. Hello and good day to you,

My name is Karen and I work for MediaSerps.

I am interested in placing a text link for one of my clients that will be located on the homepage of malavikasuresh.wordpress.com.

The rate that we extend for this suggestion is $200 per year and I will have it renewed after a year as a compromise.

If you agree, I will send you a snap-shot so you can have an idea on how this placement would look like.

Is it possible to run this type of placement on your site? I’ll be sending the payment through Paypal.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Karen Collins

  16. Hi Malavika,
    This is an interesting self-introduction.
All the best for your dream of being the best doctor. If not with the prescriptions, I am sure with your smiling attitude, you will make a difference 🙂

  18. Medical student by day, psychic diva by night ………… what a catchy line… makes people dive in to see your blog…. and then ur inspirational blog makes people go “READ MORE”
its very nice that you keep people inspired by your positive thoughts and suggestions..
    nice work gud luck 🙂

    1. Haha, this is not the first time I have heard that. I don’t know if I agree, but either way, I am very flattered because I find her very nice to look at!

  19. Its great what you did at such young age. Congats. I took 20 yrs just to heal and now enjoy deliberate creation of my life. But its funny i wrote almost same post as yours today on my Fb and when i saw yours i thought its a special reason for that. I have great skills for healing, helped few ppl yet never started to charge for it. Now i think is the time to just begin and get more confident about it.

  20. Very good post about women from Ukraine. I just stumbled upon your website and wished to say that I’ve truly enjoyed surfing around your blog posts. Anyway I hope you write again very soon particularly if you cover online dating!

  21. Hi Malavika. I am also interested in spirituality. I am 26 years old and working in the USA. I am an IITian. Will you marry me?

  22. I have found your blog earlier this week, and I have to say that you inspire me. I am a 19 year-old and I realized that I’ve been just seeing life go by during many years, and some of your posts are helping me in having positive attitude and eagerness to improve myself and actually do something for my happiness. Thank you.

  23. I tend not to leave a comment, but I browsed a few of the
remarks here About Malavika | Malavika Suresh. I actually
do have a couple of questions for you if it’s okay.
Is it simply me or does it look as if like some of the responses come across like they are left by
brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are posting at
additional places, I would like to keep up with everything fresh you have to post.
Could you list of every one of all your public sites like
your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

  24. HI
Today only i saw your blog and started looking each of your posts.
I started doing meditation since one month and trying to get good result.
I saw many things here eg. waking up early hours .
My parents always say to wake up before 5am (Gods will wake up),at 6AM(Ghosts will wake up) but i laughed on them by hearing this all..
Now after reading your post i think i have misunderstood about them.
I am here to ask your guidance in Meditation as i am new and finding ways for better result.
    I hope you will guide..

  29. Hello Malavika. Your posts are amazing, and the about Prana is really cool. I joined recently in pranic healing and has not worked out much since I took a break. After reading your posts, I feel like I have to add something into my life instead of just regular living. Articles about Meditation, Intuitions, healing, Crystals, Chakras, life source, spiritual guides, and many more on your blog are really fascinating. Keep up the good work. 🙂

    1. Hello Sandeep,
Thank you so much for sharing your kindness with me. I’m glad you found something valuable on this little blog of mine. I know you wrote this comment a while back. Apologies for my late response. How has life been since then? Did you start “adding to your life” as you mentioned? I completely understand what you mean by that. Spirituality can add so much depth to your life, that even the most simple acts of daily life, become tools of transformation.

  30. Hello ! Wonderful page thank you very much for the welcome. My name is Laura and I am every moment that i have ever lived . Is this page still up to date? I hope so ☺️ Greetings

  31. Hi Malavika))
Your blog is charming in its simplicity and sooo peaceful, thank you for making my evening even better!
Thanks to you I joined the community, subscribed and maybe even going to start my own blog..

    With greetings from Finland,

  32. Hi Malvika,

Interesting blog site. I was just wondering where to find more information about Chakra theory you have put up there. I am a new entrant in this Spiritual world and may be my knowledge is limited. However, the Chakra theory where two become dominant per age is totally new and I have never heard about it before.

  33. Hi Malvika,
Thanks for your Blog. It’s given me the much needed direction that I was looking for and also the impetus to look within first , than without. Of the several tough phases that I’ve been through and many really awesome phases as well, I’m just undergoing another challenge right now. I see why , though. Most definitely for my spiritual upliftmet. I’m just wishing I come out a better individual on the other side of it. 😇

    1. Hi D,

I am so glad to hear this! Thank YOU for reading my writing and taking the time to share your thoughts with me. That means a lot to me. And you are so welcome to my blog! Keep your eyes focused inwards, and you will move forward! The only way out is in!
