Namaskaram.
You are very welcome to my small corner of the internet. My name is Malavika. I am a 26 year old girl & recently qualified doctor. I have spent the last 6 years of my life studying medicine in Ireland, the emerald isle, and have now moved back to Canada to do doctor things, wife things and life things. Not in that order.
The word “spiritual” is such a buzzword these days, and I know that it can mean different things to different people. This is what it means to me:
I define spirituality as your relationship with your internal life, that is, your relationship with everything that is going on within you.
Firstly, there is nothing in your life that is not spiritual. Anything can become a spiritual process when you do it with involvement. What I want for myself is to make more activities in my day and in my life a spiritual process, until that spiritual process becomes me.
I believe that when you do certain things, and live in a certain way, you can create the right conditions and the right environment for the relationship with your inner self to happen.
I have come to understand that spirituality is not an activity that you do a few times a week. It is not a product that I can sell you. What spirituality is to me is a certain atmosphere in life.
Yoga, meditation and Kriya are just some of the tools that I have found help create this atmosphere for me.
So my wish in life is to bloom in every way possible. I want to live from the inside out. I want to live knowing that what happens inside me is more important than what happens outside of me. I want to live well and happily. And since I do not live in an ashram, I am slowly learning how to make my “ordinary” life with all the responsibilities it brings, into something spiritual. If this is something that you connect with, then this you might find something valuable in reading this blog!
What this blog is:
Life
“My life is ordinary in many ways, and extraordinary in some others. But I believe that life may be lived in many ways, and each life is important. Every story is worth telling, and every life , no matter how big or small it may be, deserves to be lived with conviction and purpose.”
That was a passage from my dairy.
So I write about the many small stories that weave together to make the fabric of my life.
Pure Joy
Spiritual practice has created a happiness within me that I have never had access to before. It made me realize that it is such a shame that I have lived in such a way where I felt that I could only have that intense happiness only when something great was about to happen, or had just happened, and that ecstasy is fleeting, and that as you grow up, it becomes rarer and rarer. I am coming to learn that this is not true..
And that there are other ways to live.
I have come to understand that there is a type of deep happiness that is available to us to experience all the time.
So I write about joy and happiness and how to find ecstacy in every day life.
Wild Life
The only way to know life is to be completely involved in it. This means living wildly. When I say wild, I don’t mean living recklessly. I mean living in an uninhibited way, going on adventures, embracing and living in nature and exploring earth.
So I write about my adventures and secrets of the earth.
Transformation
I believe in transformation. I believe in re-assessing all the different aspects of my life and making changes. I believe in learning from mistakes and living with courage.
So I write about my transformations, the ache and the explosion of it.
Magic of the Mundane
I celebrate the magic of the mundane. I believe deeply in the moments between the moments. I find beauty in the small acts that make up our days, because that is where life lives. I adore peaceful mornings, holding hands with my husband, picking flowers for my home, drinking hot water from my favourite mug, organizing my things, handwriting, minimalistic living, baking, reading novels, writing poetry, laughter, beautiful dresses, and conversations with friends.
So I share the ordinary moments of my life through the written word and images.
Poetry & Prose
I love to write. I have kept diaries, written (unfinished) stories and poetry since I was a little girl. Words are delicious and I love piecing together beautiful sentences. Life is poetry, the way each moment just melts into the next. Some of the most beautiful and profound things that have happened to me in my life are expressed best as poetry.
So I write for love. I write for what is within me.
Welcome
So I share with you my journey, my adventures, my transformations, and my realizations in this golden life.
It is my hope that this blog serves as a reminder of your magnificent inner journey. Thank you for walking with me.
Now that is more than enough about me, I want to know you. Who are you? What do you do? What is your life? Who are you becoming? Share yourself with us in the comments, or you can write to me or e-mail me.
All my love to all of you,
Malavika

Hi! I also tried Ananda Marga Yoga last year, attended 3 sessions, and I felt good everytime we finish although I’ve stopped because i don’t have extra money anymore (because i spend them instead on more food 😛 ). I recently graduated and will attend medical school this coming June. Anyway I hope I could be better too. 🙂

hey! was going thru wordpress n read Malavika’s blog… did a double take…. see I am Malvika too…without the ‘a’ 🙂 In 2006 when you were 16 I was 26 and at a weird time in my life too. I still feel underwater most of the time but am deterred by turning to anything spiritual by just the thought that maybe I am too shallow and materialistic for all that. Your words have made me rethink. thank you and good luck with medicine…

Today only i saw your blog and started looking each of your posts.
I started doing meditation since one month and trying to get good result.
I saw many things here eg. waking up early hours .
My parents always say to wake up before 5am (Gods will wake up),at 6AM(Ghosts will wake up) but i laughed on them by hearing this all..
Now after reading your post i think i have misunderstood about them.
I am here to ask your guidance in Meditation as i am new and finding ways for better result.
I hope you will guide..

Hello Sandeep,
Thank you so much for sharing your kindness with me. I’m glad you found something valuable on this little blog of mine. I know you wrote this comment a while back. Apologies for my late response. How has life been since then? Did you start “adding to your life” as you mentioned? I completely understand what you mean by that. Spirituality can add so much depth to your life, that even the most simple acts of daily life, become tools of transformation.
