A little baboon family playing on the side of the road. Our tour guide was saying how Baboons are a real nuisance and have been known to jump into cars, and steal baby bottles from little babies (now that is just mean!)
Two people in love at the waterfront. It’s easy to take photographs of strangers when you on vacation in a beautiful place, because everyone assumes you are pointing the camera at the beautiful landscape, and not them.
A cozy city, curled up amongst the mountains, and surrounded by lakes and tropical farms.
We made a day trip to the infamous Robben Island. Home to prisoners and outcasts. They lived and died here.
Robben Island was also where Nelson Mandela spent 15 of his 27 years in prison. This was his room. We were given a tour of the compounds by an ex-political prisoner.

Thank you Sylvia, that’s what I try to do. I want the photographs I take of the city to really reflect the energy of the city. I want my photographs to speak more than just “this is a mountain. this is a flower. this is us in front of mcdonalds.”
I use my Canon Rebel XSi, which sadly started to die on my trip – because of this I had to manual focus all of my shots as it took too much for my poor sick camera to autofocus (usually I just use autofocus when I’m planning on taking many fast photographs), which made simply taking photographs more challenging. Also Because my camera was dying, I had limited time left to keep it on, so I had to be very selective of what I wanted to take photographs of, so in the end, every photograph I took was treasured!
I have the standard 18-55mm lens. I feel that I would like more from a lens, and at times the one I currenly have really does limit me and the shot I want to create. But I am sure one day I will upgrade to something more fancy!
Beautiful pictures and post-processing! That’s such a great experience, I envy you for having such an incredible time while I’m stuck in crappy horrible cold weather, haha.
